Senate Republicans Vote Against Equal Rights for Disabled

Turncoats: A turncoat is a person who shifts allegiance from one loyalty or ideal to another, betraying or deserting an original cause by switching to the opposing side or party. In political and social history, this is distinct from being a traitor, as the switch mostly takes place under the following circumstances:

That is the best term to describe Senate Republicans. This was the most Pro-American, Pro-Freedom, Pro-Equal-Rights bill that will come to the Senate floor this term. The Republicans who have completely broken our form of government showed in their most audacious moment of their Party’s history that they would rather condemn people to non equal status than to allow our government system to start functioning.

This vote by Republicans was not about the disabled, it was about power and greed. They are hurt that the American public is not agreeing with their superstitions and hate based policies…and they are acting out.

This is the last gasp of the Republican Party. As the old an senile voters of America pass away, the Republican base dies with it. This is a party that is on its way out. Gone the same path as slavery and other hate based ideologies.

Utah Republican Mike Lee, still angry about the Romney Loss led the crusade to hurt the rights of disabled people around the world.

The ever crazy Rick Santorum, also stood proudly when he announced he was against equal rights for the disabled.

The issue is very simple……

To date, 124 countries have ratified the CRPD. U.S. ratification has strong bipartisan support in the Senate and is supported by more than 300 disability organizations, 21 veterans organizations, and more than 30 religious and interfaith groups. Ratification does not require changes to laws in the U.S. and would not require any new budget costs. Ratification would signal to the world that the U.S. is committed to international standards for disability rights and will play a leadership role in implementation of the treaty obligations.

This was a SIMPLE vote to support the disabled people of the world : The United Nations estimates that 650 million people around the world are disabled, about 10 percent of world population.

This sad day in history is brought to you 100% by the Republican party of America. Republicans are against equal rights. All forms of equal rights are opposed by Republicans. Equal rights for minorities is not supported by Republicans. Equal rights for women is not supported by Republicans. Now equal rights for the disabled is not supported by the Republicans.

On an interesting side note….some of the Republican Senators actually voted yes, while facing Bob Dole, and then reversed their votes after he left the Senate. That is a true Turncoat Traitor action!
