Helping Fat People : Cameo Casino Restaurant

America has a twisted sense of morality when it comes to saying any words that could possibly offend people. America is one of the only places in the world where if you have a large booger hanging out of your nose, people will simply turn away from you instead of identifying your problem.

So it is with the three fat girls who sat down to eat fat meats and fatty french fries, and wash it down with a fatty coke, after sitting on their fat asses for hours playing slots.

Christine Duran is a fat girl. She has two fat friends who joined her at a casino. The bartender, when inputting the identifying features of the customer into the computer so that he could remember the customers, entered “fat girls”

“I got the bill, I was looking at bill [and] I was like, ‘Why does this receipt say ‘fat girls?'” customer Christine Duran said.

Maggie Lewis, the Cameo Club Casino owner, apologized because fat women are the core of their business along with ultra skinny cigarette smoking seniors. Those two are classic cases of slowly killing themselves with socially acceptable weapons of obesity and cigarette smoke, and of course the illogical dream that they will hit it big in a casino and it will “change their life”.

But the problem is much bigger than a casino identifying their illness. In America no one else will tell them.

No one will tell them when they walk into a clothing store that they are spoiling the shopping experience for regular customers. No one will tell them that when they put on spandex that it is sickening. No one told them at that bar that they looked like three cows at a feeding trough. No joking. This is the reality of the perceptions. You have a curable illness and you are not being treated. Instead of condemning you, like we all would if you had a curable STD and did not treat it, we are all just accepting your horrible life choice and isolating you from the mainstream to suffer quietly.

Obesity is an illness of lack of self control and self hate. It is the slowest form of suicide in our society. Because in America, we really have no society in the sense that we have no desire to help others….only to help ourselves…..even if that “helping ourselves” is slowly killing ourselves with excess fat and calories.

I am 6’1″ and a little over 200 lbs. I am not obese by American standards…but then again I am not in America. I am in China. When I walk down the street I hear the words in Chinese “fat” or “overweight”. At first my American instincts of “live my life my way” kicked in and I was insulted. That was when I first got here. Now I hear the words as encouragement. I have lost some weight and now I hear the words “strong” and “tall” more than I hear fat or overweight.

Our society accepts obesity as a “norm”. That is the true illness. It is a society illness as well as an individual illness. Christine Duran needs help. Not the type of “compensation help” she is seeking now, but rather the type of help that will cure her of her illness.

Christine Duran … You are fat! Accept it. Accept that MORE people should be reminding you of this so you don’t sit in isolation and indulge in your suicidal habit.

Chances are you believe in the myths of obesity.

Michael J Dornan wrote a good article online about : Weight Problems, Obesity And How Social Networking Can Help

Myths and truths about weight problems and obesity There are many myths that people have discussed within the online community, and include:

Obesity is genetic, so there’s nothing you can do about it. The truth is that some people are more prone to gaining weight than others, that doesn’t mean they’re destined for weight problems.
People who are obese or overweight should be put on a diet. The truth is that unless directed by your doctor, treatment for obesity is not weight loss but stopping weight gain.

Causes of weight problems and obesity Understanding how people become obese or overweight, is an important step toward breaking the cycle. Many factors contribute to obesity have been discussed with the online community, and include of the following:

Busy families are cooking less and eating out more
Easy access to cheap, high-calorie fast food and junk food
Food portions are becoming bigger
People spend less time actively playing outside, and more time watching TV, playing video games, and sitting at the computer

You can get help within online communities, where real people in similar situations come together, to circumvent negative feelings like disconnection and loneliness, and focus on improving self-esteem, understanding, communication, relationships, and peer support.

So both Christine Duran and our American Society need help. Stop thinking FAT is ok. Stop thinking that it is NOT ok to quietly speak your mind…even if you are an employee of a company. Insults are not the problem…….people living sick lives and living in denial are the problem.
