Teacher Shoots Student In South Dakota Classroom (Its going to happen soon)

I am not a teacher, but I do know that it is one of the most stressful jobs on the planet.

So why would a group of legislators vote to have teachers carry guns in the classroom? It is beyond me. Teachers are the target of abuse by students who are children of baby boomer parents with no parenting skills. There is no respect for teachers in our society. Children are free to both verbally and physically abuse teachers. It happens every day.

I know that the legislators voting on this law are not teachers. I know that the governor of South Dakota, Dennis Daugaard has never been a teacher either.

In a move of complete ignorance, the state has now approved teachers to be armed and dangerous.

Teacher stress is at an all time high.

Teacher suicide rate rises by 80 per cent

Teacher’s suicide stuns school, spurs colleagues to speak out

And we always hear about teacher-student relationships that end with violence, criminal charges or suicide.

There are dozens of websites aimed at supporting the stress and depression of teachers. Teacher Support Network

Here is the bottom line…..Even the craziest “pro gun” lobby in America….The NRA

…speaks out about protection in the classroom, they say that the guards in the schools should be armed.

N.R.A. Envisions ‘a Good Guy With a Gun’ in Every School

At least they have the common sense to keep the guns out of the hands of the highly stressed teachers who are sitting in front of the badly behaved children all day, every day. At least the guards have training on how to handle high stress events. At least the guards have long periods of low stress while classes are in session.

But that kind of logic and common sense eludes the men and women of the South Dakota lawmaking body. So look for this headline from South Dakota in the near future….

Yes! This happens frequently in every state that already allow (and have been for some time) school staff to be armed at school; AL, NH, TX, UT, RI… and about thirteen other states. Just kidding, it doesn’t. Your argument is reminiscent of the 1987 Florida “Gunshine” state and “Blood in the streets” arguments regarding shall-issue concealed carry.
